Community partnerships
We are one of the largest employers in Newport and have links with local businesses and voluntary networks.
We take part in local community initiatives, working with voluntary organisations such as The Prince's Trust and Business in the Community.
We work with the South East Wales Employers Network (SEWEN) and South East Wales Racial Equality Council (SEWREC), improving awareness of equality in the community.
We have contributed to the Newport City Council initiative, 'A Community Strategy for Newport - Building our Future Together 2005-2015', and plan to continue taking part in future consultation events.
We have been involved in the Government's New Deal initiative. We give each person recruited a structured training programme which includes a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level 2.
Magistrates
We give staff paid leave for jury duty, being a magistrate, being a witness in court and so on.
In 2006, the Office received the Gwent Magistrates Association 'Justice in the Community' award for its support of the magistrates' court system in Gwent.
