Bursary scheme
Our bursary scheme helps women change their career path by pursuing qualifications in science or engineering.
We award up to 4 new bursaries each year, giving GBP £500 for every year of study, from a foundation course to completing your degree.
Eligibility
You are eligible if you are a female student who:
- is taking a foundation course in science or engineering and
- has previous arts orientated education or experience.
Applying
Every November, we ask universities to nominate suitable applicants.
You must fill in an application form, including your educational or work experience and reasons for changing from arts to engineering or science. Your tutor must approve your application.
We must receive it by the end of the year.
Award of the bursary
We will assess your application, and write to tell you whether we have awarded you a bursary.
If you have, we will pay 2 equal amounts of GBP £250 into your bank account.
You will receive GBP £500 each year until you have completed your degree.
What we expect from you
We do not expect you to work for us if you receive a bursary, but you must write an essay on the role of Intellectual Property (IP) in the modern commercial world at the end of your foundation year.
We award the writer of the best essay GBP £100 and a certificate, and invite them to visit us to see the work we do and to receive the award.
You can enter an essay for the award in other years of your studies.
