United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE)
We are members of UNECE 's Advisory Group. UNECE was set up in 1947 by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It is one of five regional commissions of the United Nations. Its primary goal is to encourage greater economic cooperation among its Member States.
In October 1998, a major forum was held at the Palais des nations, Geneva, headquarters of UNECE . The forum brought together senior government representatives from transition economies with senior private sector representatives to discuss the problems facing the enforcement of intellectual property rights. As a result of this meeting, an Advisory Group was created to implement the recommendations of the forum participants.
